The nervous system is the recording system of the body. It records our experiences and organizes them into patterns. It can then recall the experience and modify it by integrating it with patterns of other previous experiences. Although it can be said that the nervous system is the last to learn\, however\, once it has acquired knowledge\, it not only becomes the main center of control of psychophysical processes\, but through creativity and play is able to initiate the process of learning new experiences. \nThe nervous system underlies alertness\, thought\, and precision of coordination. They underlie presence and transformation\, set the ground for basic communication\, and mediate the dynamics of flow between rest and activity\, tension and relaxation. \nThe characteristics of each fluid relate to different qualities of movement\, touch\, voice\, and state of mind. Their secretions pass directly into the blood stream and their balance or imbalance influences all of the cells in the body. The glands are the keystone between the organs and the nervous system and between the nervous system and the fluids. They create crystalline psychophysical states through which we are able to experience and understand the universal aspect of self. This is the system of internal stillness\, surges or explosions of chaos/balance and the crystallization of energy into archetypal experiences. It is composed of the bones and the joints. The bones lever us through space and support our weight in relationship to gravity and the shape of our movements through space. The spaces within the joints gives us the possibility of movement and provide the axes around which the movement occurs. \nThe skeletal system gives our body the basic form through which we can locomote through space\, act on the environment and sculp and create the energy forms in space that we call movement. Through embodying the skeletal system\, the mind becomes structurally organized\, providing supporting ground for our thoughts\, the leverage for our ideas\, and the fulcrum and the spaces between our ideas for the articulation and understanding of their relationships. DESCRIPTION:6 days / 42 hours (1 day off) \nWe manifest our state of being through our breath. Through the expressive qualities of our voice\, we communicate to the outer world who we are. Our voice reflects the functioning of all of our body systems and the process of our developmental integration. Bringing kinesthetic and auditory consciousness to our vocal structures opens pathways of expression between our unconscious and our conscious mind and between ourselves and others. Breathing and vocalization are a continuum of the same process. The breath powers the voice and the voice strengthens and reflects how we breathe. Both reflect our state of being and health. \nThis course includes: \n\nThe anatomy and physiology of the breathing and vocalization structures: the 5 diaphragms\, pharynx\, larynx\, body cavities\, lips and tongue. (Note: The lungs are covered in the Organ System course.)\nThe role of the pharynx and other cavities of the body in the production of resonation and vowel sounds.\nDistinguishing the structures of the larynx and their roles in sound production (pitch and intensity).\nGaining awareness of your own breathing and vocal patterns and facilitating repatterning in others.\nExploring the psychophysical aspects of breathing and vocalization.\n\nThis is course is part of the BMC® Practitioner Program.
